A whisper in my ear awoke me

No sooner had I awoken this morning on the loft of a moving house, did a gentle, loving female voice, merely a centimeter from my ear, whispered my given name: “..kamal..”

And I awoke on the couch, where I had fallen asleep late last night.  I was caught, about to slip to another plane of existence but brought back, by what I can only imagine to be a guardian angel.

The name, despite how gently it was spoken, set off a bell in my heart that roused me from a deep sleep like an earthquake. A message, perhaps, that I must reclaim it.
